Solomon Bruce is a name out of my family history. Using it connects with the generations that came before now, when money wasn’t cheap and things had to remain useful beyond just one day. I mean it to convey respect and consideration.

Construction for each piece seeks to highlight the naturally occurring grain and color of the timber. Most pieces are finished without the use of dyes or stains. When dyes are used every effort is made to show the integral grain of the wood.

Lumber is usually acquired a few pieces at a time and then acclimated in the shop for a little while before it is used. When intended for larger pieces, all of the lumber to be used is sought to be from the same batch and mill. Exotic species are purchased in compliance with the Convention on International Trade in Exotic Species (CITES).
